DTN COMMENTS: The country is slow to start this morning following
yesterday's light to moderate business. At this point no bids have been
renewed, and asking prices for cattle left on showlists are around $168-plus
live in the South, and $273-plus dressed in the North. While it looks as if
the bulk of trading is essentially done for the week, a little cleanup here
and there is very possible. Beef cutouts are expected to be lower with light
to moderate box movement.
So far this week, the majority of Southern live deals have been marked at
mostly $167, $4 higher than last week's weighted averages. Dressed sales in
the North were at mostly $270 to $272, $5 to $6 higher than last week's
weighted averages, Northern live transactions were at $168 to $172, $3 to $7
higher than last week's weighted averages, basis Nebraska.
NOTE: Feedlots are encouraged to call DTN with any cattle sales, at
1-800-369-7675, ext. 3678. All sales will be listed anonymously and
organized by state. All live sales are FOB and set for 1-9-day delivery. A
weekly summary from this data will be posted on the Weekly Cattle Sales
Reported to DTN page.
